Lei YANG is a well-recognized energy policy expert. He has dedicated himself to promoting clean energy transition, oil and gas sector reform, and China’s participation in global energy governance.
He served as the senior advisor to Fatih Birol, the executive director of International Energy Agency from 2016 to 2019. Prior to that, YANG had been working at the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Energy Administration for almost 15 years, during which he served as deputy director general of the Oil and Gas Department from 2012 to 2016.
YANG earned his PhD from China University of Petroleum (Beijing) and his BS from Northwest University.
