Overview

Throughout history, the encounters and confluence of diverse civilizations have painted some of the most magnificent chapters in the story of humanity. Today, the rapid integration of digital and intelligent technologies is ushering us into an era of profound transformation, reshaping the way we live, work, organize society, and even think. As we stand at this new crossroads in the evolution of civilization, it is clear that we must harness the power of intelligent technologies with a spirit of harmony and coexistence. This is the only path that can meet the shared aspirations of humankind.

The age of digital intelligence presents a new horizon for civilizational exchange. Beyond breakthroughs in science and leaps in technology, it is revolutionizing social structures and cognitive paradigms, accelerating the evolution of cultures and civilizations. How can we, while embracing technological advancement, remain attuned to the underlying shifts in civilizational dynamics? How might we, empowered by digital intelligence, unlock new avenues for dialogue and mutual learning among civilizations? These are the pressing questions of our time. Committed to engaging with the spirit of the age, Beijing Forum seeks to grapple with the questions and respond to the challenges of the age by fostering academic dialogue and building global consensus through mutual understanding.

At its core, the age of digital intelligence must be guided by the values of civilizational coexistence. For millennia, the Chinese nation has upheld and practiced the ideal of "harmony in diversity" —a vision of flourishing together in mutual respect. In the face of today's global transformations, our various cultural heritages remain more vital than ever. They urge us to integrate technological advancement with cultural vitality, to use intelligent tools to safeguard and rejuvenate cultural traditions, foster cross-cultural understanding, and deepen global cooperation toward a future of shared prosperity.

Over the past twenty two years, Beijing Forum has dedicated itself to the cause of "The Harmony of Civilizations and Prosperity for All," offering a space for intellectual exchange, candid dialogue, and meaningful collaboration across the humanities and social sciences worldwide. As we confront both the profound challenges and boundless possibilities of the digital age, our theme this year—"Civilizational Coexistence in the Age of Digital Intelligence"—seeks to inspire inclusive dialogue and academic engagement. Together, let us explore how diverse civilizations can coexist, thrive, and flourish amid rapid technological change. Let us join hands to build a new global civilizational ecology—one that is more harmonious, inclusive, and full of promise—through the unifying power of culture and the transformative potential of intelligent innovation.
